Since its inception in 2006, the Vainstream Rockfest has become a go-to music event for fans of the Metal, Punk, and Hardcore punk genres. The festival happens on the last or first weekend of June/July every year at Münster’s Kingstar Event GmbH under the leadership of Timo Birth as Managing Director.

On July 1, 2006, the inaugural Vainstream Rockfest kicked off with an impressive lineup of renowned artists headlining, including Bullet for My Valentine, Caliban, boysetsfire, and Neaera from Münster. The following year featured Dropkick Murphys, Hatebreed, As I Lay Dying, Heaven Shall Burn, and Less Than Jake as some of the prominent acts at this incredible music festival.

In 2008, the number of bands performing at the festival surged dramatically. The lineup included Sick of It All, Anti-Flag, Mad Caddies, Madball, and Comeback Kid, to name a few! 2009 was an even bigger year; for the first time, it expanded into two days (Friday and Saturday), thus almost doubling in size compared to years prior.

Festival goers were in for a treat on the first day with powerful performances from Hatebreed, Ignite, The Gaslight Anthem, and Walls of Jericho. The second day saw Dimmu Borgir, Terror, Parkway Drive, Have Heart, and August Burns Red grace festival grounds. It was no surprise that over 8 thousand music fans attended each day - an increase from prior years! Additionally, marking its debut year at Vainstream Beastfest held in Wiesbaden during these same days offered even more fun-filled opportunities to revel in live music.

In 2011, the Rockfest reached a record-breaking number of attendees, with over 10,000 fans in attendance. To cap off the eventful evening, Motörhead delivered an unforgettable performance that left everyone wanting more!
